with the prize of the Explorer 465 MPB with two 40HP Yamaha motors worth over
R200 000.00.

Mark Snyman, owner of Cock & Tail in Margate was
fishing with Alan Proctor on Mark's boat Sharp Shoot. Mark caught the cuta,
which weighed in at 33.47 kg, on Saturday morning. This is an exceptionally big
cuta. He also got third prize with a 25.95kg cuta.
Our second prize winner, who held the lead overnight on Friday, was Peter
Philip, a member of Marlin Ski Boat Club and who lives in Durban. He caught a
28.57kg cuta.
We weighed 16 cuta of over 20kgs and a total of 96
cuta were caught with a total weight of 1552kg.
Other species caught were yellowtail, yellowfin tuna, kingfish and prodigal son.
There were 125 boats in the compo and 402 anglers.
Total weight of the other fish caught is 340kg.
Prodigal son winner- Nathan Defilipi ( a junior)
26.19kg on the boat Deep Burn.
Yellowfin winner- Pieter Bodenstein 19.58kg on the boat Bliksem 3
Yellowtail winner - Rowan Schoeman 15.05kg on boat Po-10-Sea
Winning Lady- Caryl Combrink 19.36kg cuta
Winning Junior - Willie Schoeman 20.16kg cuta.
It was a wonderful event and the fish caught were exceptional.
Over 3000 people came to the beach over the two days and enjoyed the festive
atmosphere and beautiful weather.
